This lesson is the fun one: las vacaciones de mis sueños — your dream holiday. Picture the trip you would love to take, and learn to describe just how amazing it would be.

By the end, you'll use sería increíble (it would be incredible) and podría relajarme (I could relax) to paint your perfect trip: iría a una isla del Caribe — ¡sería inolvidable!

Big idea: this is the conditional tense showcase. Sería means it would be — pair it with an adjective: sería increíble / perfecto / inolvidable. Podría means I could / I would be able to — pair it with an infinitive: podría relajarme, podría nadar, podría descansar. Add other conditionals — viajaría (I would travel), me alojaría (I would stay) — and your dream comes to life.

sería + adjetivo · podría + infinitivo (the conditional)

The conditional says what would happen. Sería = it would be (+ an adjective). Podría = I could / I would be able to (+ an infinitive). Both end in -ía — that's the conditional signal.

This lesson is the conditional tense at its best — the tense for dreaming. Two verbs do most of the magic. SERÍA means it would be: just add an adjective — sería increíble, sería perfecto, sería inolvidable. PODRÍA means I could / I would be able to: add an infinitive (the -ar/-er/-ir form) — podría relajarme, podría nadar, podría descansar. Notice they both end in -ía: that's the sound of the conditional. You can also use other -ía verbs to picture the trip — viajaría (I would travel), me alojaría (I would stay), disfrutaría (I would enjoy). Chain them with y and you've built a dazzling GCSE answer: Viajaría a una isla del Caribe, me alojaría en un resort de lujo y podría relajarme en la playa — ¡sería inolvidable!

The best part is that, whatever your dream, you can already describe it in Spanish: it would be incredible, it would be unforgettable. Dreaming is free — and so is practising the conditional!
