Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Ciui Training (the operator of this website) collects when you use this site, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We have tried to keep it short and in plain language. If anything is unclear, email us at support@ciui.ro and we will explain.

Who we are

This website is run by Ciui Training, the online language-teaching practice of Ana-Maria Ciui. For anything relating to your personal information, contact support@ciui.ro.

What we collect

Your account — your name, email address and password (stored only in encrypted form), plus your language and time-zone preferences and an optional profile picture.
Your learning records — which courses you are enrolled on, your progress through lessons and topics, quiz attempts and scores, work you submit for marking, and any certificates you earn.
Reading and accessibility preferences — if you choose to set them: display preferences such as font, text size and colours, any extra-time allowance for timed quizzes, and optional notes. These exist purely so the site works better for you, and you can change or reset them at any time.
School or organisation membership — if your account is part of a school or organisation on this site, we record that membership and any learning group you are placed in.
Consent records — when you accept our terms or give marketing consent we record what you agreed to, the policy version, the date and the network (IP) address it came from. This is a legal record that the consent was given.
Messages — anything you send us by email or through the site.
Technical logs — like almost every website, our servers keep short-lived security logs that include IP addresses.

Payments: if you buy a paid course, the payment itself is handled by our payment provider — your card details go to them, not to us. We keep only the order record (what you bought, when, and for how much).

What we do NOT do

We use no advertising and no analytics trackers — no Google Analytics, no Facebook pixel, nothing that follows you around the web.
We never sell your information to anyone.
We only send marketing email if you ticked the box saying we may — and every such email lets you opt out.

Why we use your information

To provide the service you signed up for — accounts, courses, progress, marking, certificates (contract).
To meet legal obligations — for example keeping order records, and honouring your data-protection rights.
To keep the site safe — security logs and account protections (legitimate interest).
With your consent — marketing email, only if you opted in.

Who we share it with

Only the suppliers who make the site run, and only what they need: our web-hosting provider (20i, a UK host), our email-delivery provider (which sends things like verification and notification emails), and — for paid courses — our payment provider. If you belong to a school or organisation on this site, its administrators and teachers can see your learning progress for the courses they manage, which is how a classroom works.

Children

Many of our learners are of GCSE age. Where a learner is a child, we expect a parent, guardian or school to be involved in creating the account, and the site supports parent/guardian accounts for exactly this reason. We collect no more from a child than from any other learner — the list above is everything.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account exists. If you ask us to delete your account, your personal details are anonymised once the request is approved and then permanently deleted after a 30-day safety window. A minimal record that a deletion was requested, reviewed and actioned is kept for accountability, as data-protection law expects.

Your rights

See your data — you can download a copy of your information from your account settings at any time.
Correct it — you can edit your details in your account, or ask us to correct anything.
Delete it — you can request deletion of your account from your account settings, or by emailing us.
Object or restrict — you can object to any use of your data based on legitimate interest, and withdraw marketing consent at any time.

To use any of these rights, use your account settings or email support@ciui.ro. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to a supervisory authority — in the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk); in Romania it is ANSPDCP (dataprotection.ro).

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in any meaningful way we will update this page and the date at the top, and where the change matters to you, we will tell you directly.
